Mrs. Romero graduated from Immaculate Heart High School and completed her undergraduate studies at CSUN. She holds a MA in Reading an Curriculum Development and MA in Catholic School Administration. Mrs. Romero also holds a Multi Subject Teaching Credential, Single Subject Teaching Credentials in English and Art, and an Administrative Services Credential.
Mrs. Romero believes that leadership is not done in isolation, but as a community united for a common goal. She believes a Catholic education lays a foundation of truth, love, and holiness.
Ms. Knatcal, or "Mrs. K" as she is known by the students and parents, is an alum of Catholic education and has been teaching in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles since 1997. In addition to teaching eighth grade homeroom, Mrs. Knatcal moderates student council and serves as Religion Coordinator. She also teaches sixth, seventh and eighth grade Social Studies. Mr. Knatcal holds a Multiple Subject Credential and M.A. in Elementary Education, as well as a M.A. in Catholic School Administration from Loyola Marymount University. Mrs. Knatcal also teaches part-time at LMU in the School of Education. She and her husband both teach and on their spare time enjoy exploring their home town of Los Angeles.
In addition to teaching seventh grade homeroom, Ms. Olmedo teaches sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Math and Science. Ms. Olmedo received her B.A. in Liberal Studies from CSUN is is pursuing her graduate degree from Loyola Marymount University. From a young age, Ms. Olmedo was interested in teaching and has worked with several grades at St. James - Holy Redeemer. She has also been a parishoner since childhood, and has worked with the Junior High and High School youth ministries in the Parish ("Edge" and "LifeTeen"). From a young age, Ms. Olmedo was interested in teaching. During her free time, she enjoys travel, reading and camping.
Mr. Currer has been the middle school English teacher at St. James - Holy Redeemer since 2013, and for the last few years has coached the soccer team and served as the Athletics Director. He has lived in Pasadena for 25 yeas having moved with his wife and family from his native England (Newcastle upon Tyne) where he graduated with a BA in Medieval & Modern History from University College London (UCL - part of London University). After several years of postgraduate study in law, he worked for 20 years as a lawyer in London and Pasadena before becoming an English teacher.
Mrs. Moran joined St. James - Holy Redeemer in 2009. She holds a PhD and earned her B.S. and Teaching Credential from CSUN. Ms. Moran says it was her 'magical' kindergarten teacher who inspired her to pursue a career in teaching primary school. Ms. Moran loves to teach and loves children. She doesn't consider this a job, but a joy. She believes all children cal learn, and she enjoys learning from them in return.
Ms. Yamasaki is a Southern California native and is an alum of Catholic education. She attended Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary then Mayfield Senior School. Ms. Yamasaki earned a B.A. in Music from Occidental College. She also earned her Teaching Credential and M.A. in Education from Loyola Marymount University. Prior to teaching, Ms. Yamasaki spent almost 7 years in the food service industry, opening and managing several top rated L.A. restaurants - when she realized she wanted to do something more meaningful and she answered the call to become a teacher. In her spare time, Ms. Yamasaki enjoys running, dance class, and working as a Confirmation Catechist at her home parish.
Ms. Fraire received her B.A. in Spanish from CSULA and her M.A. in Business Administraton from Woodbury University. She is currently working towards her Multiple Subject Credential at Loyola Marymount University. Prior to teaching third grade, Ms. Fraire taugh Spanish at St. James - Holy Redeemer. Ms. Fraire enjoys reading, teaching Sunday School, and loves learning about different cultures.
Mrs. Evans joined the St. James - Holy Redeemer faculty in 2019. She is a native of the Crescenta Canada Valley having attended St. Bede's School and La Canada High School. Mrs. Evans received her B.A. in Political Science from UCLA, then changed course and obtained her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at CSUN. After teaching in and around the Los Angeles area, Mrs. Evans moved with her family to South Orange County where she taught for 10 years at one of the largest Catholic schools in the nation. While there, she taught second and fourth grade, as well as the school's advanced program. Mrs. Evans also coached the two-time Academic Decathlon State Champions. We are very grateful that Mrs. Evans returned the area and she is thrilled to be teaching at St. James - Holy Redeemer where her niece and nephew are alumni. In her free time, Mrs. Evans loves to travel, hike, read, spend time with her four children, and just hang out at the beach.
Ms. Davila is a native Angeleno and an alum of Catholic education having attended Holy Trinity Elementary and Holy Family High School. Her university studies were at CSULA, USD, and Pepperdine University. Ms. Davila has a B.A. in Child Development, a BCLAD in Spanish, a M.A. in Education, and a M.S. in School Administration. Ms. Davila has been an educator and mentor to new teachers for over 20 year. She believes her faith in God's providence has blessed her with the strength to raise her children while obtaining her degrees. Ms. Davila served as a Religious Education catechist and is currently a faith formation catechist at her home parish.
Ms. Gallegos is beyond thankful to be part of the St. James - Holy Redeemer community. An alumn of Catholic education, she attended St. Andrews Elementary in Pasadena and La Salle High School. Ms. Gallegos received her B.A. in Sociology from USF with an emphasis on Education. She also received her teaching credential. When she is not busy planning lessons for the TK and Kinder students, Mr. Gallegos enjoys eating, dancing, or just hanging out with family and friends.
Mrs. Norman graduated San Diego State University with a major in Child and Family Development. She then taught 1st grade at Holy Redeemer School. She took some time off to raise her kids and returned to St. James/Holy Redeemer as a substitute teacher nine years ago. Mrs. Norman has been one of the TK/ Kinder aids for the past six years. She truly loves her time spent in the classroom.
Mrs. Proulx received her undergraduate degree in Elementary and Special Education as well as her M.A. in Special Education from Providence College. Before moving to California, Mrs. Proulx taught Middle School and Elementary School Special Education in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and North Carolina. Mrs. Proulx loves working with the TK and Kindergarten students, bringing her joyful spirit and high energy to the classroom every day.
Mrs. Proulx enjoys swimming, exercising, reading, volunteering at school, cooking and being a hockey mom.
Mr. Camatti has taught at St. James - Holy Redeemer for 20 years. He teaches music, including voice, violin and guitar. Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Mr. Camati attended Jesuit High School and College. He studied at Immaculate Heart College and in New York City.
Mrs. Parris first joined the St. James - Holy Redeemer staff in 2011, as School Secretary for the legacy Holy Redeemer campus. She then was a Financial Account Specialist at Immaculate Heart for four years, before returning to our school in the fall of 2019.
Mrs. Parris earned her degree in Social Work from CSULA; and prior to joining St. James - Holy Redeemer she worked as a social worker for a non-profit organization.
Mrs. Parris returned to St. James - Holy Redeemer to be closer to her children and we are grateful to have her on our staff. From keeping track of the administrative needs of the school to scheduling school tours and helping parents navigate daily questions, Mrs. Parris always serves our school community with a smile.
